The Newport Harbor High School girls’ water polo team earned a 10-8 victory over the Bishop’s School of La Jolla on Thursday in a CIF Southern California Regional Division I semifinal match.

Top-seeded Newport Harbor (29-1) will host No. 2-seeded Laguna Beach in the regional title match Saturday at 10 a.m. That will be a rematch of the CIF Southern Section Open Division title match, which was won by the Sailors 11-6.

Laguna Beach 13, Orange Lutheran 10 (OT): Ava Knepper scored five goals as the Breakers rallied to defeat the Lancers in a CIF Southern California Regional Division I semifinal match Thursday at Laguna Beach High.

Presley Jones added three goals for Laguna Beach (27-6), which rallied from a 7-4 halftime deficit. Goalkeeper Lauren Schneider had 15 saves and dished out four assists.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

Bermuda Dunes Desert Christian Academy 53, Laguna Beach 50 (OT): Kate Cheng had 12 points, 10 rebounds, six assists and four blocked shots, but the No. 3-seeded Breakers were upset on Wednesday on the road in a CIF Southern Section Division 5AA semifinal game.

Anna Cheng had 11 points, five rebounds and three steals for Laguna Beach (20-12). Sophie Marriner contributed nine points, 10 rebounds, six steals and five blocks, and Elaina Seybold scored seven points to go with four rebounds and two blocks.

Desert Christian Academy (18-11) scored four points in the last 12 seconds of regulation to force overtime. The Conquerors will play host to Capistrano Valley Christian (16-6) in the final on Saturday at 6 p.m.

BOYS’ VOLLEYBALL

Pacifica Christian Orange County 3, Western 0: Knox Vail had 10 kills and three service aces to lead the Tritons to a 25-13, 25-7, 25-17 sweep of the host Pioneers on Thursday in a season-opening match.

Servite 3, Corona del Mar 1: The visiting Sea Kings dropped their season opener to the Friars 25-16, 28-26, 22-25, 25-22.

Santa Margarita 3, Huntington Beach 2: The Oilers fell to the host Eagles 25-17, 17-25, 25-23, 21-25, 15-11 on Thursday in their season opener at Santa Margarita High School.

BASEBALL

Estancia 11, Azusa 4: James De La O hit a grand slam and drove in five runs for the visiting Eagles on Thursday in a nonleague game.

Jack Moyer had three hits and four RBIs for Estancia (6-0). Andrew Coyotzi produced two hits and scored two runs.

Trevor Scott improved his record to 2-0, allowing four runs (three earned) over six innings. He struck out four.

Corona del Mar 9, Woodbridge 1: Max Lane hit a grand slam, as the Sea Kings rolled to a rout of the Warriors on Thursday in a Newport Elks Tournament game at Windrow Park.

Corona del Mar (3-2) has won its last three games.

SOFTBALL

Chino Hills 10, Huntington Beach 3: Sophia Knight went three for three with a triple, a run scored and a run batted in for the Oilers on Thursday in a nonleague game on the road.

Emma Francisco also had two hits for Huntington Beach (2-2), which was coming off an 8-6 win against Diamond Bar on Wednesday.

Chino Hills scored eight runs in the fourth inning.
