The CIF Southern Section released its playoff pairings for boys’ volleyball Monday, with three Surf League teams appearing in the Division 1 bracket.

Newport Harbor (22-5) earned the No. 3 overall seed in the postseason, and it will be joined in the top division by Huntington Beach (19-10) and crosstown rival Corona del Mar (15-9).

The Sailors, who went undefeated in their run to the Surf League crown, will not take the court until next Tuesday, May 3, when they play host to fellow Sunset Conference foe Los Alamitos (22-9), the Wave League champion.

The Oilers also received a first-round bye, before beginning their playoff run on the road at Pacific Coast League champion Beckman (36-3).

Although it had been ranked among the top five in the Division 1 and 2 combined poll for much of the season, CdM became a bubble team as far as its candidacy for the bracket with a three-game losing streak to end the regular season. It included losses last week to Huntington Beach and then Laguna Beach, the latter of which failed to qualify for the section playoffs.

The Division 1 bracket will have 10 teams competing for the title, and according to the final poll, the Sea Kings were the last team to be selected into the field.

First-round matches are scheduled to be played on Thursday, with CdM taking on defending Division 1 champion Manhattan Beach Mira Costa (18-9), the Bay League champion, on the road.

Marina (15-11), the reigning champion in Division 4 and the winner of the CIF State Southern California Regional Division III title last season, returns to the postseason. The Vikings, who finished third in the Wave League, received an at-large berth.

Promoted to Division 2 following last year’s success, Marina will travel to take on South Coast League champion San Clemente (19-10) on Thursday.

Edison (14-11), which finished the season ranked No. 5 in Division 3, ended up in second place in the Wave League. The Chargers will open the playoffs on the road against Southwestern League champion Murrieta Valley (13-11).

Pacifica Christian Orange County (18-9), the third-place team in the San Joaquin League, finds itself in an identical situation to the Chargers. Although the Tritons are ranked No. 5 in Division 4 — in which they reached the quarterfinals last year — a league champion, in this case La Cañada Flintridge Prep (20-6) from the Prep League, will get the home game in the playoff opener between the sides.

Estancia (11-6), the third-place team out of the Orange Coast League, will play host to University (8-8) in the wild-card round on Tuesday at 6 p.m. The winner advances to play at Pomona Diamond Ranch (22-6, Valle Vista League champion) in the main draw of the Division 4 playoffs.
