Freshman Halle Redfearn went three for three and junior Cory Kent went two for three and had a strong game behind the plate.

The Breakers played their first game under new Coach Alan Ludloff.

“Coming off the Ski Week break, our players showed a lot of rust early the game,” Ludloff said. “We settled in and played pretty well after that. We hit the ball hard, (but) just right at them.”

The Scott Panaro era at Laguna got off to a successful start Tuesday when the Breakers gave their first-year head coach his first victory in the form of a 25-17, 25-20, 25-21 road win at Edison. Outside hitter Weston Barnes had 13 kills and six digs and Austin Hilleman had eight kills, libero JP Wollam had six digs and setter Grifan Fair had 32 set assists.

“Heading into my first match, I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I knew Edison was going to be tough and they lived up to it,” Panaro said.

“We missed far too many serves and will need to learn when to be aggressive and when to take a little bit off. Overall, it was a great first match and I am proud to be with the Laguna Beach Breakers.”
