Volleyball camps available

The second of three summer volleyball camp sessions run by Laguna Beach High boys’ volleyball Coach Scott Panaro starts Monday and runs through Thursday at Laguna Beach High. The final camp session is Aug. 20 through 23.

Camps are from 4 to 7 p.m. at Dugger Gym and are open to players in grades sixth through 12th. The cost is $165 per camp. Registration information can be found at https://www.lagunabeachcity.net.

Pavlik, Kropp, third at shootout

Whitney Pavlik of Laguna Beach and playing partner Jenny Kropp had their undefeated run in the Jose Cuervo Pro Beach Volleyball Series come to an end Sunday at the Milwaukee Shootout in Wisconsin.

Pavlik and Kropp, who won the first four stops of the seven-event series, were upended in three sets the semifinals of the Women’s tournament by the team of Raquel Ferreira/Kristen Batt. The team of Jennifer Fopma/Brooke Sweat defeated Ferreira/Batt in the final Sunday.

The final two stops on the Jose Cuervo Pro Beach Volleyball Series are the Manhattan Beach Open Aug. 24-26, and the national championships Sept. 21-23 at the Huntington Beach Pier.

Turkey Trot registration open

Registration is open for the 35th annual Dana Point Turkey Trot. The Nov. 22 event includes a 5K, 10K, Kids’ Gobble Wobble, and two-day health and fitness expo and finish line festival. For information, visit https://www.turkeytrot.com.
