Eagles explode with six goals

COSTA MESA — Ramiro Ramirez scored two goals for the Eagles in the nonleague game at Jim Scott Stadium Wednesday.

Vicente Lopez had two assists and a goal and Carlos Barrios had two assists for Estancia (6-3-1).

Carlos Moreno, Oscar Barannon and Anthony Pastrana scored a goal each, while Christian Montillo and Wesley Pena provided an assist each.

Goalie Alex Plata had two saves in his shutout to help Estancia bounce back from its 1-0 loss to JSerra Monday.

The Eagles play at Laguna Beach Wednesday at 6:15 p.m. to open Orange Coast League play.

Costa Mesa 52, Garden Grove 41

COSTA MESA — Senior guard Nick Hefner finished with 14 points in the Mustangs’ nonleague game on Wednesday.

Saaeed El Assadi had 11 points and Nick Dawson added 10 points and six rebounds.

Costa Mesa (10-5) will open Orange Coast League play next Wednesday at home against Godinez at 7 p.m.

Rancho Alamitos 63, Estancia 59

COSTA MESA — Rashad Davis had 29 points and 17 rebounds for the Eagles in the nonleague game Wednesday.

Ben Beck scored 10 points and Chad Fackler added eight points for Estancia.

The Eagles play host to Newport Harbor Saturday at 7 p.m.

Newport Harbor 20, Fountain Valley 5

NEWPORT BEACH — Senior Maddy McLaren had six goals for the Sailors in their Sunset League opener Wednesday at Newport Harbor High.

Senior Sophie Leveque had three goals for the Sailors (6-3), while Paisley Muller, Avery Peterson and Carly Christian (six steals) each scored twice.

Annie Kinney, Allyson Hall, Elissia Schilling, Carolyn Smith and Presley Pender added single goals.

Cleo Harrington had 15 saves and Lindsay Richardson added four for Newport Harbor.

The Sailors play at The Bishop’s School of La Jolla on Saturday.
