IRVINE — Senior center Cody Caldwell had 18 points and 11 rebounds as the Sailors outlasted the Warriors in the nonleague game Wednesday at Woodbridge High.
Senior guard Carter Fortier added 10 points for Newport Harbor (7-7).
The Sailors open Sunset League play at 7 p.m. Friday, at Marina.
Garden Grove 48, Costa Mesa 36
COSTA MESA — Andrew Albers scored 13 points for the Mustangs in the nonleague game Wednesday.
Marcus Hayes had eight points and five assists for Costa Mesa (5-10), which will play at Santa Ana Valley Friday at 6 p.m.

Newport Harbor 15, Fountain Valley 3
NEWPORT BEACH — Presley Pender had four goals, one assist and one steal for the Sailors in their Sunset League opener Wednesday.
Carly Christian, Catherine Carpenter, Sophie Leveque and Mary Rose Wight scored two goals each for Newport Harbor (8-1, 1-0 in league). Goalie Sarah Wilkey had 10 saves for the Sailors, who will play host to The Bishops Saturday at 11 a.m.
Paramount 13, Estancia 10
COSTA MESA — Senior Kylie Carpenter scored five goals for the Eagles in the nonleague game Wednesday.
Sophomore Ilene Umansky had four goals and junior Vanessa Rodriguez had one goal, while sophomore goalie Alexis Paul recorded eight saves for Estancia (5-10).
The Eagles will face Saddleback in the Santa Ana Valley Tournament Friday at 4:40 p.m.

Fountain Valley 37, Newport Harbor 23
FOUNTAIN VALLEY — Senior Ryan Cerrato (171-pound division) recorded a pin in 50 seconds for the Sailors in the Sunset League opener Wednesday.
Freshman Jacob Gaulrapp (103), junior Ben Nordstrom (152) and seniors Justin Craft (160), Bradely Beaudette (189) and Abraham Aguilar (215) were winners by decision for Newport Harbor (10-3, 1-0 in league).

CORONA DEL MAR – Jake Huggins, a 112-pounder, was one of four Sea Kings earning pins in a Pacific Coast League dual meet Wednesday.
Chad Caraway (160 pounds), Collin Krum (171) and Nick Delgado (180) were the other three wrestlers.
