GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

Newport Harbor 43, Los Alamitos 42

LOS ALAMITOS — Junior forward Kasey Thompson finished with 21 points, 13 rebounds and four blocks in the Sailors’ Sunset League upset win Tuesday.

Alex Morton had 12 points, 10 rebounds, five blocks and four assists for Newport Harbor (10-7, 1-1 in league).

The Sailors held off a 19-point fourth-quarter effort by Los Alamitos.

Mandy Legault had four points and four assists.

Costa Mesa 39, Godinez 35

SANTA ANA — Senior Annie Sturm finished with 14 points and 18 rebounds in the Mustangs’ Orange Coast League opener Tuesday.

Itzel Flores contributed eight points, nine steals and six rebounds for Costa Mesa (5-11, 1-0 in league).

Godinez has won the Orange Coast League the past two years.

Sage Hill 37, Oxford Academy 31 (OT)

CYPRESS — Ava Soleimany scored 15 points to lead the Lightning in the Academy League game Tuesday.

Sage Hill (10-5, 2-1 in league) outscored Oxford Academy, 10-4, in overtime.

Maggie Danner had a career-high 17 rebounds to go with 13 points and four steals.

Zoe Kreitenberg had nine points, 15 rebounds and five blocks for the Lightning who will play host to St. Margaret’s Friday at 6 p.m.

Irvine 47, Corona del Mar 38

IRVINE — Ellie Nadal scored 10 points, including three three-pointers, for the Sea Kings in the Pacific Coast League game Tuesday.

Saylor Schroff had eight points for CdM (9-9, 0-2 in league), which will play host to Woodbridge Friday at 5:30 p.m.

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

Corona del Mar 65, Irvine 44

IRVINE — Marcus Bradley scored 20 points to lead the Sea Kings in the Pacific Coast League game Tuesday.

Clayton Ragsdale had 17 points and Danny Cheek added 14 points for CdM (10-6, 2-0 in league), which plays host to Woodbridge Friday at 7 p.m.

GIRLS’ SOCCER

Corona del Mar 3, Irvine 2

IRVINE — Annie Alvarado scored two goals to lead the Sea Kings in the Pacific Coast League game.

Ally Brahs scored on a header following Sydney Raguse’s free kick from about 40 yards out. Goalie Lindsey Luke had seven saves for CdM (8-2-3, 2-0-0 in league), which led, 3-0, before Irvine scored two goals in the final seven minutes, including a penalty kick just before the final whistle.

The Sea Kings play host to Woodbridge Thursday at 3:15 p.m.

BOYS’ SOCCER

Sage Hill 2, Oxford Academy 0

NEWPORT COAST — Taylor Ross and Colton Gyulay scored a goal each for the Lightning in the Academy League game Tuesday.

Jack Percival had an assist for Sage (5-2-2, 2-0-1 in league).

Goalie Mason Weinstein had six saves, while Alex Till and Kam Fuji contributed on defense.

The Lightning will play at St. Margaret’s in a battle for first place in the Academy League Friday at 5:30 p.m.

WRESTLING

Newport Harbor 34, Segrestrom 30

SANTA ANA — Ryan Cerrato, a 171-pound senior, won by pin in the Sailors’ nonleague dual meet Tuesday.

Bradley Beaudette, a 189-pounder, won by a major decision.

Abraham Aguilar (215 pounds) and David Wadleigh III (119) each won for Newport Harbor (11-4).

The Sailors face Huntington Beach Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
