IRVINE — Sam Gould and Fabian Matthews won at Nos. 4 and 5 singles, respectively, to give the host Anteaters their only points in the nonconference match Sunday.

Gould defeated Jenson Turner, 6-1, 6-4, while Matthews, a Corona del Mar High product, topped Alfredo Moreno, 6-4, 6-3.

UCI’s Chris Kearney, ranked No. 33, lost to No. 14-ranked Sebastian Fanselow, 6-3, 7-5, at No. 1 singles.

LAS VEGAS — Stephen Stege won in singles and doubles for the Anteaters in the season-opening nonconference match Saturday at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.

Stege won at No. 4 singles, 7-5, 6-4, and teamed with Chris Kearney to post an 8-6 win at No. 1 doubles.

Steven Henderson and Sam Gould, as well as Ryan Cheung and Shan Sondhu (No. 3) added doubles wins.
