College Roundup: Virgen’s two-run double lifts OCC to win

Orange Coast 5, Long Beach City 3 (10 innings)

LONG BEACH — Anthony Virgen belted a two-run double on a 3-2 pitch in the 10th inning for the Pirates in the nonconference game Thursday.

The Vikings (1-2) had runners on first and second with two outs in the bottom of the 10th, but failed to capitalize.

David Longville earned the win in relief for OCC (4-1), ranked No. 3 in Southern California. He scattered two hits over the final 2 2/3 innings and struck out one. Starter Dallas Draviczki went 6 2/3 innings and allowed two runs and three hits. Austin Saenz went three for four with two RBIs and Danny Jimenez was two for five with two runs for the Pirates.

Long Beach and Orange Coast continue their three-game series on Saturday at OCC at noon.

Vanguard 6, Oregon Tech 3

COSTA MESA — Jordan Mould, Bryce Arroyo and Jason Ochart comined for six of the Lions’ 11 hits in the nonconference game Thursday.

Mould went two for three with two runs batted in and two runs, Arroyo was two for four with two RBIs and one run and Ochart finished two for four with one RBI and one run for Vanguard (4-2).

Oregon Tech is 2-1.

Orange Coast 6, San Diego City 3

SAN DIEGO — No. 2 singles player Andrew Pham (6-0, 6-1) and No. 4 Chad Meyer (6-4, 6-4) earned wins for the Pirates in the nonconference game Thursday.

The No. 2 doubles team of Andrew Pham and Dillon Nguyen (8-1) and the No. 3 doubles team of Chad Meyer and Timmy Pham (8-4) also earned wins for OCC (2-1).
