LONG BEACH — Boog Powell went three for five with three runs to help the Pirates stay undefeated after the nonconference win Thursday.

Starter Brandon Brennan struck out four, walked one and allowed four hits in seven innings to improve to 2-0. Chris Carlson had three runs batted in, while Eilert Meyers and Trent Woodward had two RBIs each for OCC (5-0), which plays host to Long Beach State Friday at 2 p.m.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

UC Irvine 68, UC Davis 59

DAVIS — Kassandra McCalister scored a game-high 29 points and grabbed 10 reboudns for the Anteaters in the Big West Conference game Thursday.

Jacquelyn Marshall had 16 points and eight rebounds for UCI (11-13, 7-4 in conference). Kiara Belen grabbed nine rebounds to help the Anteaters out-rebound UC Davis, 44-34.

The Aggies are 14-8, 6-4.

IRVINE — The Anteaters won twice in singles in the nonconference match Thursday.

Kat Facey won at No. 4 singles and Ali Facey won at No. 6 singles for UCI (2-3).
