WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

UC Irvine 65, UC Riverside 60 (OT)

RIVERSIDE — Kelly Meggs scored a career-high 26 points to lead the visiting Anteaters in their Big West Conference regular-season finale Thursday.

The win assured UCI (13-16, 9-7 in conference) no worse than a No. 5 seed in the Big West Tournament that begins Tuesday. Losses on Saturday by both UC Davis and Pacific would give UCI a No. 3 seed. A loss by either UC Davis (at home against UC Santa Barbara) or Pacific (at home against Cal Poly San Luis Obispo) would make UCI the No. 4 seed.

The top four teams play host to quarterfinal games on Tuesday.

Meggs had five three-pointers and a team-best six assists, filling in for senior point guard Kassandra McCalister, who sat out with a foot injury.
