Berglund no longer at Sage
Andy Berglund brought winning baseball to Sage Hill School. He is planning to bring the same kind of success to the Czech Republic.
Berglund said he has resigned after three successful seasons as Sage Hill’s coach for the opportunity to guide the Czech Republic senior and junior national baseball programs.
Berglund, who went 51-18 overall and 36-9 in the Academy League, led the Lightning to many firsts. In his first season in 2008, he guided Sage Hill to its first league title and first CIF Southern Section first-round playoff victory.
Last season, the Lightning reached the semifinals of the playoffs for the first time. Under Berglund, Sage Hill won two league crowns and finished second once.
Berglund said Danny Gonzales, an assistant coach at Sage Hill last year, has taken over as the Lightning head coach.
