Wilson, Moran shine at Newport Surf Classic
Chase Wilson, the pro surfer from Newport Beach, and Newport Harbor High senior Colin Moran were among the winners in the 14th annual Newport Surf Classic at 54th Street last weekend.
Volcom and Newport Harbor High were the hosts for the surf contest that benefited the Newport Harbor surf team.
Wilson won the Graduated Division (18 and older) and the $500 cash purse. Moran took the top spot in the High School Division.
“Epic weekend,” said Matt Burns, Newport Harbor’s surf coach. “We had great waves and plenty of sun to give us a great environment for our contest.”
