UCI’s Aikhionbare named Big West Athlete of the Week

UC Irvine sophomore Itos Aikhionbare has been named Big West Conference Athlete of the Week in women’s track and field.

Aikhionbare won the shot put (49 feet, 7 3/4 inches and the discus (158-7) at the Big West Challenge Cup on Friday at UCI.

She also finished sixth in the hammer throw with a mark of 153-1.

UCI competes at the Mt. SAC Relays and the Beach Invitational this week.
