Corona del Mar High senior defensive end Tim Reinhardt has accepted a preferred walk-on spot with the San Diego State football program, said Bill, his father, in an email on Wednesday.

“We believe this is the best fit for Tim,” said Bill, adding that his son received preferred walk-on offers from Oregon, Utah, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and the University of San Diego.

Reinhardt, a 6-foot-3, 225-pounder, earned All-CIF Southern Section Southern Division accolades for the second straight season. He finished with nine sacks, 47 tackles, one safety and one forced fumble.

Reinhardt helped the Sea Kings (12-2) shut out their first three playoff opponents en route to defending their CIF Southern Section Southern Division championship in December. He led the Sea Kings to a 5-0 record in Pacific Coast League play, recording their first undefeated league title in the program’s history.

Reinhardt received Daily Pilot Newport-Mesa Dream Team, second-team All-Orange County and first-team All-Pacific Coast League honors. He also made the 54th Brea Lions Club Orange County North-South Prep All-Star Football Game at Orange Coast College on June 28.
