NEWPORT BEACH — Junior Chase Wheatley shot three-under-par 32 to earn medalist honors and lead the host Sea Kings, who clinched the outright Pacific Coast League title on Tuesday at Newport Beach Country Club.

COSTA MESA — Jake Knapp shot three-under-par 32 to earn medalist honors and lead the visiting Eagles at the Costa Mesa Golf & Country Club’s Mesa Linda course on Tuesday.

Nelson Negrillo (38) and Chris Pawinski (39) led the Mustangs.

IRVINE — Ahmed Eltamami earned medalist honors after shooting four-over-par 40 to help the Lightning secure a share of the Academy League title as co-champion for the second year in a row Tuesday.

Alex Sun shot a season-best 39, while Matt Marlin and Tanner Tremaine both shot 41 for Sage Hill (11-6, 7-1 in league).

SEAL BEACH — Carter Norris shot one-under-par 35, the low for the Sailors in the Sunset League match Tuesday at Old Ranch Golf Course.

Landon Knight (38), Mason Moody (39), Danny Willett (39) and Brad Tapfer (40) also scored for Newport Harbor (11-8, 4-4 in league).

Newport Harbor 11, Huntington Beach 7

NEWPORT BEACH — Freshman Reese Stalder swept at No. 1 singles to help the host Sailors clinch a berth in the CIF Southern Section playoffs on Tuesday.

Senior Troy Arnold won two of three sets at No. 3 singles and seniors Matthew Searcy and Logan Friend won two of three sets at No. 3 doubles for the Tars (11-6, 6-3 in league).

The Sailors, who can finish either second or third, complete the regular season with a Sunset League match against Fountain Valley on Monday.

University 13, Corona del Mar 5

CORONA DEL MAR — Freshman Chaz Downing grabbed the Sea Kings’ lone win in singles during the Pacific Coast League match that featured the top two teams in CIF Southern Section Division 1 Tuesday.

Downing beat won, 6-2, over freshman Aresh Hafezi of University, ranked No. 1 in CIF Division 1.

In doubles, Alex Murray and Henry Gordon won two out of three sets for CdM (16-3, 7-2 in league), ranked No. 2 in CIF Division 1.

In the two matches against University this season Murray won five out of six doubles sets he played, three with Zach Williams and two with Gordon.

The Ojai Valley Tournament starts on Thursday. CdM has Alec Adamson entered in CIF singles and Murray and Williams entered in doubles.

SOFTBALL

Estancia 8, Costa Mesa 5

COSTA MESA — The host Eagles had four players with multiple hits in the Orange Coast League game Tuesday.

Kelly Hinkle was two for five and pitched a complete-game five-hitter, allowing two earned runs for the Eagles (7-15, 2-3 in league).

Ray Reynolds was two for four with a run batted in, Amy Moya was two for four with a triple and Gianna Guyot was two for four to key the Eagles’ 12-hit attack.

Costa Mesa is 1-22, 1-4.

Estancia def. Godinez

SANTA ANA — Senior Dylan Gaitan had 20 kills to lead the visiting Eagles to a 25-23, 25-21, 26-24 victory in an Orange Coast League match Tuesday.

Estancia is 2-4 in league.

IRVINE — Parker Brown had 12 kills to help the Sea Kings win the Pacific Coast League match, 25-17, 25-16, 25-21, Tuesday.

Kevin Gordinier had 10 kills and Erik Ctrvrtlik had 10 digs for CdM (19-6, 8-0 in league), ranked No. 2 in the CIF Southern Section Division 2 coaches’ poll.

Sage Hill def. Whitney

NEWPORT COAST — Senior outside hitter Chris Zadra had 20 kills, 11 digs and four service aces in the Lightning’s 25-23, 28-26, 25-21 Academy League sweep on Tuesday.

Kent Kawaguchi finished with 37 assists, seven kills and nine digs for Sage Hill (18-10, 7-1 in league).

The Lightning play at Oxford Academy Friday at 5 p.m.

BASEBALL

Sage Hill 4, St. Margaret’s 1

NEWPORT COAST — Led by Kellen Ochi and Parker Reposa the Lightning pulled off an Academy League upset and ended their four-game losing streak Tuesday.

Ochi went three with three, including a two-run double. Reposa went the distance allowing five hits and one unearned run while striking out four. He also hit a triple.

Sophomore Adam Ellingson recorded a highlight play, as he ended the game with a diving catch on a line drive to right field to secure the victory for the Lightning (5-5 in league).

St. Margaret’s (7-3 in league) plays host to Sage Hill Friday at 6 p.m.

SANTA ANA — Steven Macias improved to 6-2 after he pitched a two-hit, complete-game shutout with six strikeouts and one walk.

Ben Beck was two for three with four runs, three stolen bases, a walk, hit by pitch and a run batted in, while Alex Trancoso was four for five with four RBIs, three runs and two stolen bases for Estancia (12-8, 7-3 in league).

Levi Stillman (two for five, run, RBI, stolen base), Tyler Rios (one for three, three RBIS, two walks, one run), Macias (three walks, two runs, stolen base), Brodie Pearce (two for four, three RBIs, hit by pitch), Andres Hernandez (two for five, three RBIs), Matt Jarmacz (one for three, walk, run), Jackson Letterman (one for three, run, stolen base), Brody Henscheid (run) and Jason Rodriguez (walk, run) also contributed for the Eagles, who play host to Godinez Friday at 3:15 p.m.

IRVINE — The visiting Sea Kings managed just three hits, all singles, and left four runners in scoring position in the Pacific Coast League game Tuesday.

Senior Andrew McCormack allowed seven hits and one earned run to absorb the loss, as CdM fell to 12-8, 5-5, but remained in sole possession of third place.

Savanna 67, Estancia 59

COSTA MESA — Hayden Swift won two events for the Eagles in the nonleague meet Tuesday.

Swift won the 100-yard freestyle in 54.56 seconds and the 50 free in 24.43. Derek Andrews won the 100 breaststroke in 1 minute, 18.30 seconds, Brandon Swan-Long won the 200 free in 2:18.98 and Niko Ridge won the 500 free in 6:42.44 for Estancia.
