College Roundup: Lions outlast Concordia

COSTA MESA — Jason Dovel had a walk-off RBI single down the left-field line, lifting the Lions in the bottom of the 14th inning of Thursday’s Golden State Athletic Conference game.
Jeremiah Mejia, who led off the 14th inning with a single, scored the game-winning run.
Joseph Vegas III earned the win after shutting out Concordia in six innings in relief. He struck out five and allowed three hits.
Bryson Rahier went three for six with three RBIs for Vanguard (21-25, 15-19 in conference), which has won four of its last five.

Riverside 9, Orange Coast 5
COSTA MESA — Chris Carlson went three for five with two doubles and drove in one run in the Pirates’ Orange Empire Conference regular-season finale Thursday.
OCC (28-8, 14-7 in conference) finished second in the conference and awaits where it will be seeded in the playoffs.
Blake Hugaert hit a three-run home run and Austin Wobrock went two for four.
The Pirates turned a triple play in the top of the seventh inning.

SOFTBALL
Doubleheader
FULLERTON — Kaysie Flasck went two for four with a double and drove in two runs in the first game of Vanguard’s Golden State Athletic Conference doubleheader Thursday.
The Lions won the opener, 7-3, and lost in the nightcap to Hope International, 6-3.
Kari Bergerson and Ariana Atwater each had two hits in Game 1, which Stacie Salazar won after throwing five innings.
In Game 2, Kimberly Skoglund went four for four for Vanguard (25-30, 4-16 in conference).
