SAN CLEMENTE — Mike Moorhead shot par 72 to lead Corona del Mar High to a second-place finish Tuesday at Talega Golf Course.

The Sea Kings shot 379 as a team, two shots behind victorious San Juan Hills. CdM is one of three teams to advance to the CIF finals, Thursday at Mission Lakes Country Club in Desert Hot Springs.

Ryan Grable (73), Chase Wheatley (77), John Davenport (78), Brian Mull (79) and Karick Brown (79) also contributed for Coach Mike Starkweather’s squad.

Newport Harbor 5, Huntington Beach 1

HUNTINGTON BEACH — Pitchers Chase Kapana (seven innings) and Max Gerard (three innings) allowed one hit each and helped the Sailors to their first Sunset League win Tuesday.

Kapana, who had a no-hitter broken up in the seventh, struck out five and walked one. The Oilers scored on an error in the seventh to send the game into extra innings.

Gerard earned his second win of the season after striking out two and shutting out Huntington Beach. Kapana went two for four with a walk. Austin Metzger was one for two with three walks and one run for Newport Harbor (NH, 8-16-1, 1-12-1 in league).

Shaun Vetrovec led off the four-run 10th with a double.

Beckman 6, Corona del Mar 2

CORONA DEL MAR — Andrew McCormack, Will Morrow and Brian Ford had two hits each for the Sea Kings in the Pacific Coast League game Tuesday.

CdM (12-11, 6-8 in league) finished with eight hits. The Sea Kings, who remain in fourth in the PCL, play at Beckman Thursday at 3:15 p.m. to conclude the regular season.

Brethren Christian 14, Sage Hill 11

HUNTINGTON BEACH — Allen Brown was one for three with three runs batted in for the Lightning in the Academy League game Tuesday.

Jack Heffron had two hits and two RBIs and Ryan Fishel had two hits for Sage Hill (5-14, 4-10 in league).
