Team USA scores win

WESTWOOD — John Mann, a former Corona del Mar High standout, scored two goals to help the U.S. men’s water polo team beat Hungary for the second time in less than a week, 9-5.

The win came in front of a packed house at UCLA Thursday night.

Tony Azevedo, the Americans’ team captain, scored three goals. Merrill Moses posted 12 saves in net for the U.S. men.

Team USA closes out its pre-Olympic domestic slate Friday against Croatia at Rose Bowl Aquatic Center at 6:30 p.m.

Napolitano busy

Sophomore Luke Napolitano, a 6-foot-4, 180-pounder, who will compete for the starting quarterback job next season at Corona del Mar High, has been invited to attend the Nike Football Training Camp at the University of Oregon on June 10.

The national camp is open to players who are in the Class of 2013 and the best underclassmen.

After the Nike camp, Napolitano plans to attend another camp, Football University’s Top Gun, in Williamsburg, Va., on July 19-21.

Last season, Napolitano was a member of the Sea Kings’ CIF Southern Section Southern Division championship team.
