Newly hired UC Irvine women’s basketball coach Doug Oliver finalized his staff of assistants by retaining one, hiring another and promoting the Anteaters’ former director of operations on Thursday.

Oliver, an assistant coach last year who replaces Molly Goodenbour, will work with former UCI players Annie Mai and Lauren Bowie (formerly Yadon), as well as new addition Michelle Augustavo, in his first season at the UCI helm.

Mai, who played at UCI from 2004-08, remains on the staff as an assistant. She was a first-year assistant last season after serving as director of operations in 2010-11.

Bowie, who played from 2002-06, was director of operations last season. Prior to returning to her alma mater, Bowie spent three seasons as an assistant at the University of La Verne (2008-11).

Augustavo was director of operations at the University of Denver last season, after spending one season as an assistant at Sacramento State. She served an internship under renowned Coach Joan Bonvicini at Seattle University in 2009-10.

Augustavo is a 2009 graduate of the University of Washington, where she was a two-time captain after transferring from the University of San Diego. She holds the single-game scoring record at USD with 42 points against Clemson in 2005.

“They are young, talented basketball minds that have a great work ethic, enjoy teaching the game and can relate well with players,” Oliver said in a statement. “They embody dedication, loyalty and leadership.

“Annie and Lauren will continue the foundation we created last year, while Michelle brings a new perspective and enthusiasm. Together, I think we have a dynamic group of coaches that have great character and similar values to create something special here at UCI.”
