Jock to semis

EUGENE, Ore. — Charles Jock, who recently completed his junior year at UC Irvine, has advanced to Friday’s 800-meters semifinals at the USA Track & Field Championships.

Jock finished second in his first-round heat Thursday with a time of 1 minute, 47.49 seconds as Tyler Mulder of Oregon TC Elite finished first in 1:47.45.

Jock, a first-team All-American this season, had the fifth-fastest time Thursday of the 16 runners who advanced to the semifinals. Two semifinal heats are scheduled for Friday, beginning at 5:15 p.m. The top four finishers in each of those heats will advance to Sunday’s final at 2:27 p.m.
