Jock makes 800 final
MIRAMAR, Fla. — UC Irvine All-American Charles Jock won his semifinal heat in the 800 meters Saturday morning to advance to today’s final at the North American, Central American and Caribbean U-23 Track & Field Championships in Miramar, Fla.
Jock qualified with a time of 1 minute 50.52 seconds at the Ansin Sports Complex. USA teammate Cory Primm (UCLA) won the other heat in 1:50.12.
Today’s 800 final is at 3:35 p.m. (PT).

Breakers lose again
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Newport Beach Breakers suffered their second straight loss of the World Team Tennis season after falling to the Kansas City Explorers, 22-20, in overtime Saturday night.
Lester Cook and David Martin of the Breakers tied in men’s doubles in overtime, giving the Explorers the victory.
Cook and Martin won in doubles in regulation. Julie Ditty and Cook recorded wins in singles for the Breakers (2-2), who play today at the Springfield Lasers.
The Breakers return home Monday, when they play host to the Sacramento Capitals at The Tennis Club Newport Beach.
