Freshman Baylee Bakkila won two sets at No. 3 singles for Newport Harbor (6-3, 1-0 in league).

COSTA MESA — The No. 1 doubles team of Brooke Thomas and Serena Kao swept and No. 2 singles player Doris Corona won two sets for host Eagles in the nonleague match Thursday.

Estancia is 3-4 and will visit Oxford Academy on Monday.

FOUNTAIN VALLEY — Grace Ferrell shot a one-over-par 37 for the Sailors in their Sunset League opener Thursday at Mile Square Golf Course.

Tara Hanna (43), Christina Ferraro (50), Hannah Perry (51) and Tahya Corona (55) scored for Newport Harbor (1-4, 0-1 in league), which had its best score of the season.

Edison’s Jennifer Yu shot 34 to earn medalist honors.
