COSTA MESA — Junior Cassie Stevenson earned medalist honors after shooting a five-over-par 40 to lead the Eagles past rival Costa Mesa for the second time this season in Orange Coast League play at Costa Mesa Golf and Country Club’s Mesa Linda Course on Thursday.

Estancia (2-10, 2-1 in league) is one victory away from claiming the Battle for the Bell. The teams play two more times.

NEWPORT BEACH — Charlotte Skjonsby shot four-over-par 40 to earn medalist honors for the Sailors in the Sunset League match at Big Canyon Country Club Thursday.

Terra Hanna (49), Lauren Willard (50), Kate Lamas (55) and Amelia Thomas (56) also scored for Newport Harbor (5-4, 1-2 in league).

CORONA DEL MAR — Senior Ben Zepfel recorded four goals and drew two ejections in the Sea Kings’ 9-7 victory against Dos Pueblos of Goleta in pool-play action Thursday night.

Jake Wyatt had three assists and a steal for CdM (4-0).

The Sea Kings plays host to Huntington Beach Friday at 5 p.m.

In the afternoon opener, the Sea Kings trounced Long Beach Poly, 15-4, behind three goals from Ty Hack.

Jack Harryman had two goals, two assists and two steals, Reid Chase had two goals and one assist, and Jedd Thayer had two goals and one steal for the winners.

A.J. Santa Maria and Patrick McKenzie had four saves apiece for CdM.

Costa Mesa 20, Magnolia 3

ANAHEIM — Junior Quinn Stone led the Mustangs with six goals in the nonleague game Thursday.

Junior Wyatt Ferris added three goals and goalie Mitchell Grandia had 11 saves for Costa Mesa (5-0).

The Mustangs play against Santa Ana Valley to open pool play of the Grafton Weiss Memorial Tournament Friday at Orange.

COSTA MESA — Chloe Davis and Lauren Peterson had six kills each to lead the Eagles to a 25-17, 25-19, 25-13 nonleague win Thursday.

Estancia (3-4) will play host to Pacifica Monday night.

CROSS COUNTRY

Academy League Cluster Meet

CERRITOS — Junior Sophia Witte, freshman Brittany Andressoo and senior Caroline Grant finished in the top 10 to help the Sage Hill School girls’ win the meet Thursday at Cerritos Regional Park

Witte was fourth in 21 minutes, 32 seconds, Andressoo was ninth in 22:23 and Grant 10th in 22:25.

Senior Naomi Granados (12th in 22:38), and junior Campbell Moore (19th in 24:03) also competed.

Junior Brennan Hicks finished fifth in 16:45 to help the Sage boys to a third-place finish.

Senior Jack Percival was ninth in 17:10, junior Chris Andras was 10th in 17:11, junior Dylan Thies was 13th in 17:20, junior Ryan Fishel was 19th in 17:59.
