NEWPORT BEACH — The Lightning doubles teams swept in an Academy League opener Tuesday at The Tennis Club Newport Beach.
Rian Billingsley and Casey Astorino dropped just two games, while Devyn Billingsley and Lauren Hsu lost only three games for Sage Hill (5-1, 1-0 in league), ranked No. 5 in the CIF Southern Section Division III coaches’ poll. Oxford Academy (4-1, 0-1) entered ranked No. 8.

NEWPORT BEACH — Senior Maddy Brown had 14 kills and junior Cinnamon Sary had 40 assists and eight kills to lead the host Sailors to a 19-25, 25-17, 25-23, 25-19 nonleague triumph Tuesday.
Alex Holbrook added 14 kills and Sarah Buckingham had eight for the winners (11-6).
Tilly Lumpkin had 11 digs for the Tars, ranked No. 8 in CIF Southern Section Division I-AA.

COSTA MESA — Senior Alex Krohnfeldt had 22 assists and nine kills to help lead the Mustangs to a 25-22, 25-18, 25-21 nonleague win Tuesday night.
Senior Shannon Walters had 12 kills, freshman Amanda Moore had six kills and senior Sami Feinstein had 15 assists for Costa Mesa (2-3), which plays at Laguna Hills today at 5 p.m.

HUNTINGTON BEACH — Junior Natasha Sakraney and sophomore Maggie Danner had six kills each for the Lightning in their nonleague loss Tuesday.
Ocean View won, 25-15, 25-21, 25-13.
Sakraney added nine digs and Danner had two aces for Sage Hill (3-10), which was without starting junior middle blocker Zoe Kreitenberg, who had a schedule conflict, Coach Dan Thomassen said.
The Lightning play at Irvine Friday.

COSTA MESA — Emily Leahy shot seven-over-par 42 to earn medalist honors for the Eagles in the Golden West League match at Costa Mesa Country Club’s Mesa Linda course Tuesday.
Cassie Stevenson (44), Jillian Tanner (49), Jackie Tanner (52) and Melissa Morel (53) scored for Estancia (9-2, 6-0 in league), which was missing top player Ashley Peters because of illness, Coach Art Perry said.
The Eagles face Loara today at Dad Miller golf course.
