COSTA MESA — Jamie Heenan had 22 kills and KaUwila Lavea had 20 kills to lead the No. 21-ranked Lions to a 25-19, 26-28, 31-29, 25-21 Golden State Athletic Conference upset of No. 12 Biola Saturday at the Pit.
Lisa Morgan had 24 digs to lead Vanguard (17-8, 6-4 in conference). Alexandra Leja had 32 assists and Carly Maxwell had 23 assist for the Lions.
The Eagles are 13-5, 5-5.

NORTHRIDGE — Aly Squires had nine kills to lead the Anteaters, who lost the Big West Conference match, 25-18, 25-11, 26-24, Saturday.
Kristin Winkler had 13 digs to lead UCI (7-11, 2-5 in conference).
The Matadors are 9-10, 3-4.

OMAHA, Neb. — The No. 4-ranked hosts led, 2-0, on their way to topping the No. 7-ranked Anteaters in the nonconference game Saturday.
Jimmy Turner scored for UCI (12-3), which was outshot, 18-5.
Creighton is 11-2.

NORTHRIDGE — UC Irvine had five runners in the top 15 to win the team title Saturday.
Freshman Matt Neeve was eighth to pace the UCI contingent, finishing the 8,000-meter course in 26 minutes, 6.96 seconds.
Rex Nelson, a Newport Harbor High product (ninth in 25:09.06), Steven Melena (11th in 25:14.72), Brett Matejka (14th in 25:32.25) and Nick Osborne (15th in 25:36.38) rounded out the Anteaters’ top five.
UCI’s 50 points were two better than second-place Houston and six better than Cal State Northridge.
Amir Sharif was 17th in 25:46.14 and Ryan McMonigle was 19th in 25:50 for UCI.

NORTHRIDGE — Melissa Mead was sixth among 121 runers to help UC Irvine finish third as a team Saturday.
Mead, a Newport Harbor High product, finished the 6,000-meter course in 22 minutes, 6.93 seconds.
Kaycee Holcomb (ninth in 22:19.88) and Chloe Fata (10th in 22:21.12) also stood out for UCI, which had 92 points, 20 behind victorious UC Santa Barbara.
