Sailors’ season is done

REDONDO BEACH — Newport Harbor High’s quest for a second straight CIF Southern Section Division I-AA championship ended at Redondo Union Saturday.

The Seahawks beat the defending champions and No. 4 seeds, 25-21, 25-19, 21-25, 25-23.

Senior Maddy Brown led the Sailors (22-13) with 18 kills and 10 digs. Sarah Buckingham had 10 kills, Lauren Demos had four kills and four blocks and Ksey Thompson had eight kills and three blocks. Cinnamon Sary had 32 assists, eight digs and five kills, while Tatum Norton had eight digs.
