Estancia 49, Westminster 42

CORONA DEL MAR — Kassie Stratton scored 27 points to lead the Eagles into the semifinals of the Corona del Mar Tip-Off Tournament Wednesday.

Vanessa Stafford also played a key role, grabbing 12 rebounds and recording four steals. Yesenia Maldonado scored eight points and Andrea Silver had four points in the last two minutes to help seal the win.

Estancia (2-0) will play against Corona del Mar in a semifinal today at 7:30 p.m.

Newport Harbor 62, Western 38

IRVINE — The Sailors’ Alex Morton had 17 points, 12 rebounds and 10 blocks for her first triple double in her high school career during a first-round game of the Corona del Mar Tip-Off Tournament at Northwood Wednesday.

Kasey Thompson had 16 points, eight rebounds and two blocks, while Mandy Legault had 14 points for Newport Harbor (1-0).

Lexi Kunkle contributed four points, 10 rebounds and three steals for the Sailors, who play against El Modena in a quarterfinal today at 5:30 p.m. at Northwood.

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

Corona del Mar 67, Capistrano Valley 55

MISSION VIEJO — Marcus Bradley scored 20 points to lead the Sea Kings into the semifinals of the Diablo Inferno Tournament Wednesday.

CdM (2-0) won its pool with help from Danny Cheek and Clayton Ragsdale, who scored 11 points each.

The Sea Kings will face Upland in the semifinals today at 6:30 p.m.

Estancia 42, Garden Grove 38

NORWALK — Davon Joyner had 17 points and eight rebounds for the Eagles in a pool-play game of the John Glenn Tournament Wednesday.

Ray Holmes added seven points for Estancia (1-1), which continues pool play Friday against View Park Prep of Los Angeles at 4:30 p.m.

BOYS’ SOCCER

Costa Mesa 4, Rancho Alamitos 0

COSTA MESA — Dong-Gi Shin scored one goal and had an assist for the Mustangs in their season opener Wednesday.

Franco Ramirez, Oscar Dorantes and Cesar Pineda scored one goal each for Costa Mesa (1-0), which was up, 1-0, at halftime.

Goalies Peter Salas (two saves) and Brandon Menes (one save) combined for the shutout, playing a half each.

The Mustangs will play against Buena Park Friday at 4:30 p.m. at Jim Scott Stadium.
