IRVINE — Sophomore Ashley Engeln had 16 points and eight rebounds for the Pirates in the championship semfinals of the Irvine Valley Tournament on Friday at IVC.

The Pirates (5-5) shot 28.6% from the field for the game and were four of 22 from three-point range to fall into Saturday’s third-place game at noon.

Only two Pirates besides Engeln had more than one field goal for OCC, which was outrebounded, 50-32, and committed 19 turnovers, six more than the winners (9-2).

Bridgett Madrigal had five assists for OCC.
