CdM’s Maloney featured in Sports Illustrated’s ‘Faces In The Crowd’

Tyler Maloney, a Corona del Mar High senior, will be featured in Sports Illustrated’s “Faces In The Crowd,” section in the Dec. 24 issue of the magazine for his stellar play in hockey.

Maloney, who also plays on the CdM baseball team, recorded his second hat trick of the season to pace CdM, known as the Ice Kings, in its 6-1 win over Servite. According to the magazine, Maloney is competing in the first year of interscholastic hockey at CdM. He leads the Anaheim Ducks High School Hockey League (the first high school hockey league in Orange County, established by the NHL Ducks in 2008) in scoring with 18 goals and six assists in nine games, according to the magazine. He also leads his Junior Ducks Midget 18AA travel team in scoring (14 points).
