Estancia’s Peterson earns all-league honors
Estancia High senior Lauren Peterson, a middle blocker and outside hitter, earned first-team All-Orange Coast League honors in girls’ volleyball after helping the Eagles finish third in league.
Peterson, who finished with 115 kills, 76 digs and 27 blocks, led Estancia (7-13, 4-6 in league) to the CIF Southern Section Division I-A playoffs for the second straight year under Coach Paul Muñoz.
The Eagles swept the two-match series against rival Costa Mesa (3-18, 2-8), which didn’t have any players make the all-league team.
Estancia junior setter Ilene Umansky was a second-team pick. She recorded 323 assists.
Laguna Beach senior Allison Palmer was named the Orange Coast League MVP.
