Arizona Kickoff Classic

TUCSON, Ariz. — Sebastian Heim, Rafael Davidian and Jonathan Hammel earned straight-set singles victories to pace the visiting Anteaters’ 4-2 victory over Arizona in the season opener Friday.

Davidian, competing at No. 4 singles, won 12 of 15 games, while Heim and Hammel, Nos. 3 and 5, respectively, each dropped only four games.

Tyler Pham rallied for a 1-6, 6-4, 7-6 win at No. 2 singles for the Anteaters, who won their opener for the first time since 2010.

Later Friday, UCI fell. 4-2, to Texas Tech in the same event.

Heim earned a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 3 singles and Davidian posted a 7-5, 7-5 triumph in the No. 4 spot against the Red Raiders.
