College Roundup: OCC takes down Riverside in men’s basketball

MEN’S BASKETBALL

Orange Coast 63, Riverside 59

Freshman Davaysia Hagger led four Pirates in double figures with 18 points and he added 10 rebounds in the Orange Empire Conference game Friday.

Hagger made six of eight field-goal attempts.

DeAndre Page had 16 points, six assists and four steals for the winners (7-14, 5-4 in conference), while Deion Page had 11 points and seven rebounds.

Brad Buchignani had 10 points and eight rebounds for OCC.

Riverside is 9-14, 4-5.

BASEBALL

Orange Coast 14, Cuesta 8

Five Pirates had two hits in the nonconference game Friday.

Stefan Penayiotou and Cole Rutherford were both two for three with two runs batted in, Mondesi Gutierrez was two for five with two RBIs for the winners (4-3).

Robert Longtree and Jack Kruger also had a pair of hits, while Tommy Bell was one for two with three RBIs and three runs scored.

Cody Maples earned the win in relief, while Dominic Purpura posted his first save.

Cuesta is 0-5.

In the weekend series opener on Thursday, the Pirates prevailed, 9-1.

Bell was three for four with three runs and one run batted in and Art Vidrio allowed one run in six innings to earn his first win

Jeff Nellis and James McClellan had two hits apiece for OCC, for which three relievers worked three scoreless innings.

Arizona Christian 1, Vanguard 0

Brett Collins went two for four to pace the host Lions’ six-hit attack in the Golden State Athletic Conference game Friday.

Sean Isaac allowed one run on seven hits in nine innings, but absorbed the loss, his first in three decisions. He struck out nine and walked one.

Vanguard fell to 8-4, 3-4 in conference).

ACU is 4-3 in conference.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

Riverside 73, Orange Coast 57

Nicole Beaudoin had 19 points to lead the host Pirates in the Orange Empire Conference game Friday.

Kawa Andrade had nine rebounds, s9ix points and four assists for OCC (3-20, 0-9 in conference).

Riverside is 16-9, 5-4.

Long Beach State 62, UC Irvine 46

Mokun Fajemisin had 16 points and 12 rebounds for the host Anteaters in the Big West Conference game Thursday.

Methlyn Onogomuho had eight points and eight rebounds, while Irene Chavez added 11 points for UCI (4-19, 1-7 in conference).

Long Beach State is 19-3, 6-2.
