Girls’ Soccer: CdM seventh-graders capture league title

The Corona del Mar seventh-grade girls’ soccer team defeated Sowers 4-1 to claim the Coastal Athletic League at the Jack Hammett Sports Complex in Costa Mesa on March 26.

CdM was down early when Sowers scored on the opening drive, but responded with goals by Megan Chelf, Nikki Senske and Cerise Cornmann.

CdM’s defense, led by Sophia Harvey, Ansely Righimer, Sofia Raab and goaltender Giovanna Broderick shut out Sowers the rest of the way.

CdM defeated Dwyer in the semifinals, 2-0.

The members of the team included Paris Ammari, Giovanna Broderick, Kennedy Cambell, Megan Chelf, Cerise Cornman, Sophia Harvey, Kiera Hoffman, Abbie Jensen, Sofia Raab, Ashley Righeimer, Blaire Roberts, Sarah Schoenbaum, Nikki Senske, Sierra Stoliar, Paige Wood and Darya Wosoughkia.

CdM was coached by Bryan Middleton and Gracie Folkesson.
