Getzlaf charity returns
Anaheim Ducks captain Ryan Getzlaf is hosting his third annual Getzlaf Golf Shootout tournament on Sept. 8 to benefit CureDuchenne, a nonprofit that raises awareness and funds research to find a cure for Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
Anaheim Duck players Corey Perry, Dustin Penner and Sauk Koivu, and assistant coach Scott Niedermayer, a Stanley Cup champion, Olympic gold medalist and Hockey Hall of Fame inductee, as well as other hockey players, celebrities and community leaders plan to participate in the tournament at Monarch Beach Golf Links in Dana Point.
The tournament will feature foursomes teamed up with a professional athlete or celebrity. The cost is $2,800 per foursome and it includes eight tickets to the pre-golf dinner reception at Sutra in Costa Mesa on Sept. 7.
Individual tickets to the reception are also available for fans who want to meet with the players and celebrities. Tickets to the reception are $100 each.
“Duchenne is a devastating disease that impacts boys and robs them of the ability to walk, run and play sports,” Getzlaf said in a press release. “My wife, Paige, and I are committed to support CureDuchenne and their efforts in finding a cure for Duchenne. It is urgent to find a cure now in order to give these boys a chance. We hope you’ll join us at the golf tournament and provide hope for the 300,000 boys living with Duchenne.”
