Senior Jaclyn Gerschultz, freshman Michelle Hung and sophomore Maya Byrd all swept in singles for the Lightning in Wednesday’s nonleague match at The Tennis Club.

In doubles, senior Connie Yu and sophomore Isabella Deckey swept for Sage Hill (2-0).

GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL

Long Beach Poly def. Newport Harbor

LONG BEACH — Senior Madison Holland led the Sailors with eight kills and one service ace in the nonleague opener host Long Beach Poly won, 25-19, 25-20, 25-18, on Wednesday.

Remy Wilson had six kills and two aces in Newport Harbor’s opener. Ellie Hagadorn finished with 28 assists, 13 digs and one block.

Newport Harbor opens the Dave Mohs Championships on Friday with two pool-play matches, against San Juan Hills at 4:30 p.m. and against Peninsula at 6:30 p.m.
