Charlotte Heerlyn recorded 12 kills to help lead the No. 10-ranked Lions to a 25-19, 25-11, 27-25 Golden State Athletic Conference-opening win at home Thursday.

Kelly Dalrymple led the Lions (7-4, 1-0 in conference) with 23 assists, while Rory McCloy added 17 assist.

Rebecca Lowden led Vanguard with 20 digs.

San Diego Christian is 5-3, 0-1.

Juan Arellano, Brian Torres, Luke Kadillak, Nathan Miramontes and Jesus Fregoso scored for Vanguard (4-1).

Ivan Azpeita, Miramontes, Zac Way and Fregoso had one assist each for the Lions.
