High School Roundup: Costa Mesa’s Magana wins fourth SC invitational title

PALOS VERDES ESTATES — Costa Mesa High’s Anuare Magana won his fourth invitational title and led the Mustangs to a fifth-place finish Saturday.
Magana won the highlighted section, finishing the challenging two-mile course in 10 minutes, 8 seconds. He finished 11 seconds ahead of second-place Raymond Boffman of San Diego Cathedral Catholic.
This season Magana has won the 2-Mile Fast Back Shootout at Mt. San Antonio College, the Laguna Hills Invitational and the Orange Coast League Cluster Meet.
The Costa Mesa High girls finished seventh at the Palos Verdes Invitational.

PALOS VERDES ESTATES — Junior Emily Bacon finished third in her race and the fastest among the Newport Harbor High girls, who finished fourth.
Bacon finished the challenging two-mile course in 12:38.13.
Senior Erin Barth finished second in her race at 12:44.63, junior Emma Buggeln took first in her race at 12:43.56, junior Holly Clemence was third in her race at 13:46.96, sophomore Lani Kerrigan was fifth in her race at 14:21.25, junior Lauren Loucks finished fifth in her race at 14:31.94 and senior Maria Gomez finished fifth in her race at 15:15.88.
