Girls’ Volleyball: Sage Hill’s Abbott commits to Michigan

Sage Hill School senior setter Maddy Abbott has committed to the University of Michigan women’s volleyball team, said Lightning Coach Dan Thomassen.

Abbott’s father, Jim Abbott, is a Michigan graduate. Jim, a left-handed pitcher, went to play for the Angels, Yankees, White Sox and Brewers.

Abbott has led Sage Hill to three straight CIF Southern Section finals, helping the team win the Division 3A title last year and the Division 4AA title three years ago.

Abbott earned All-CIF Southern Section Division 3A honors last year, and she made the All-Sunset League first team. She totaled 920 assists and 70 services aces as a junior.
