College Roundup: Vanguard edges Biola

Freshman Nicole Dunn caromed a shot off the crossbar and past the goal line just 27 seconds into the second overtime of the Golden State Athletic Conference Tournament semifinals on Friday at Vanguard.

The No. 10-ranked Lions (16-2-1) advance to Friday’s GSAC title game at top-seeded Westmont, with which Vanguard shared the conference regular-season crown.

Junior Ashley McCutcheon posted the assist, while senior goalkeeper Lauren Terry had seven saves to preserve the shutout.

Biola (13-6) posted a 13-12 advantage in shots.

Westmont, which defeated Vanguard, 1-0, in their regular-season meeting on Oct. 22 at Vanguard, defeated San Diego Christian, 4-0, in the other semifinal.

Golden West def. Orange Coast

Sierra Brown had seven kills for the Pirates against the Rustlers, who won, 25-18, 25-18, 26-24, Friday.

Danielle Boyette had 21 assists and Carina Perez had 16 digs for OCC (12-5, 6-5 in conference).

Golden West is 15-5, 7-4.
