Estancia upsets Calvary Chapel

Estancia High’s football team stepped up with a 24-14 upset against Calvary Chapel at Jim Scott Stadium and received a little help from its rival Friday night.

Estancia (5-5, 3-2 in league) claimed second place in the Orange Coast League and the league’s No. 2 entry into the CIF Southern Section playoffs after Costa Mesa won at Laguna Beach, 56-30.

Estancia built a 16-0 lead in the third quarter and held off any hope of a Calvary Chapel comeback. Calvary Chapel entered ranked No. 10 in the CIF Southern Section Southern Division poll.
