Rowing: NAC finishes strong in San Diego Fall Classic

SAN DIEGO — The Newport Aquatic Center high-school-age rowing teams finished with a strong statement in the San Diego Fall Classic, the final Fall head race of the season, Nov. 9 in Mission Bay.

NAC took first, second and third in the Boys’ Varsity 8, well ahead of the next fastest top varsity boat.

The NAC Boys’ Novice also won its events in the 4 and 8 and the Varsity Double of Max Clemence and Alex Lobel also won convincingly among the races of 5,000 meters.

Clemence and Lobel won in 19 minutes, 35 seconds.

The Varsity 8 of coxswain Amba Guerguerian, and Sam Launder, Jack Dole, Micah Adehlson, Reid Rolfes, Austin Moore, Patrick Klingensmith, Max Clemence and Alex Lobel won in 15:31.

The Novice 4 of coxswain Jake Shoffron, and Adam Benmohamed, Jake Taylor, Jake Kauffman and Griffin Crane won in 19:27.

The Novice 8 of coxswain Joey Murphy, and Jason Goode, Parker Monroe, Caleb O’Neil, Blake Richter, Joe Schulman, Daniel Debassio, Luc Levine and Harrison White won in 18:10.
