Gaytan, Hill capture women’s doubles title at Adoption Guild

Newport Beach residents Cierra Gaytan and Natasha Hill combined to win the women’s open doubles title on Memorial Day at the Roy Emerson Adoption Guild Tennis Classic, held at Palisades Tennis Club.

Gaytan and Hill defeated top-seeded Parija Maloo and Hana Ritterova, 6-3, 3-6, 6-2, in the title match.

Gaytan is a Corona del Mar High tennis alumna who is currently the girls’ tennis coach at Sage Hill School. Hill, 15, is a freshman at Mater Dei High.

Hill and her partner Patrick Crow also made the final of the mixed open doubles division. They lost to top-seeded Emily Maxfield and Maximillian Wild, 6-1, 2-6, 6-1, also on Monday.

In the men’s open doubles final, Huntington Beach residents Art Hernandez and Max Cancilla lost to Anthony Gomez and Rylan Rizza, 6-4, 6-3.

Top-seeded Tanner Smith of USC won the men’s open singles title, 7-5, 6-4, over No. 3-seeded Luca Marquard.

Hannah Zhao won the women’s open singles title, 6-4, 6-1, over Hiromi Sasano.
