High School Boys’ Basketball Roundup: Sailors finish third at Grizzly Invitational

Junior forward Dayne Chalmers scored 13 points as the Newport Harbor High boys’ basketball team beat San Clemente 54-51 Saturday night in the third-place game of the Grizzly Invitational at Godinez High.

Senior forward Brad Siegel added 10 points, and senior guard Zack Swies scored nine.

Siegel was an all-tournament team selection for Newport Harbor (4-1).

Estancia 55, Laguna Hills 44

Senior Alex Hendricks scored 16 points for the Eagles in their final game of the Los Amigos tournament on Saturday.

Mason Richards had 14 points for Estancia (5-3), and Jackson Winters scored 13.

The Eagles return to action with a home nonleague game against Oxford Academy on Friday at 7 p.m.

Fullerton 70, Costa Mesa 65

Junior guard Osman Hefner scored 24 points for the Mustangs in their Grizzly Invitational tournament finale Saturday at Irvine High.

Nico Dasca added 21 points, and George Williamson had eight.

Costa Mesa (2-4) opens the Corona del Mar Beach Bash tournament Monday at 6 p.m. against Santa Margarita in a pool play game.

Lakewood 66, Marina 65

Junior forward Jakob Alamudin had 29 points for the Vikings in their Jim Harris Classic tournament finale Saturday at Ocean View High.

Marina (3-2) opens play in the Artesia Winter Classic tournament Monday at 7:30 p.m. against Warren.
