Corona del Mar’s Cooper, Snyder take top awards in Pacific Coast League
Corona del Mar High senior Mitchell Cooper has been named the Pacific Coast League MVP in boys’ water polo, and senior Will Snyder earned the Most Valuable Goalie award in league.
Cooper and Snyder are joined on the first team by CdM seniors Will Klein and Henry Wilde, and sophomore Tanner Pulice.
Cooper, a utility player and co-captain, and Snyder helped CdM go 10-0 in its final year in the Pacific Coast League before moving to the Sunset League Surf Division next season. The Sea Kings went 21-10 overall.
The No. 2-seeded Sea Kings advanced to the CIF Southern Section Division 2 championship game before losing 10-7 to top-seeded Foothill.
Klein was a center for the Sea Kings, and Wilde was an attacker and the other co-captain.
CdM first-year head coach Kareem Captan said that Pulice, an attacker, led the Sea Kings in goals.
CdM senior defender Ryan Schildwachter and senior attacker Hayden Roletter, as well as junior defender Shane Papa, earned second-team accolades.
Senior left-hander Alex Taxman and junior center Matt Ueberroth were honorable mentions.
