Breakdown: Edison (8-3) plays host to No. 4-seeded Oaks Christian (9-2) in the quarterfinals of the CIF Southern Section Division 2 playoffs … Chargers and Lions are meeting at Cap Sheue Field for a second time this year, Oaks Christian won 24-19 on Sept. 1 … Edison wasn’t at full strength in the nonleague game against Oaks Christian, as O’Connor started and played with a 103-degree fever, and the Yale-bound quarterback threw three interceptions … Oaks Christian, the Marmonte League champion, has been without USC-bound linebacker Bo Calvert, who broke his leg in a 48-0 win against Newbury Park on Oct. 6 … Chargers saw the return of running back Jack Carmichael (ankle) and wide receiver McCade Barrett (collarbone) during their 28-27 double-overtime win at La Habra in the first round last week … Lions defeated Arroyo Grande 42-13 in the first round, and they played Josh Calvert and Marco Siderman at quarterback … Edison picked off Calvert three times in the last meeting in which Calvert completed nine of 21 passes for 175 yards and one touchdown, and rushed 13 times for 53 yards … Oaks Christian, ranked No. 23 in the state by CalHiSports.com, is looking to reach the semifinals for the first time since 2011 … Chargers are led by Jeff Grady, who is in his first season as a high school head coach, while Jim Benkert, who has 254 wins in 29 years, is in charge of the Lions.
