High school roundup: Sage Hill blanks Godinez with combined no-no

Junior Ashwin Chona and senior Justin Camp combined to pitch a no-hitter for host Sage Hill in Saturday’s nonleague game.

The Lightning (3-0) remain home to face Lakewood Artesia on Monday at 3 p.m.

Corona 3, Corona del Mar 2: Junior Nolan Dunn took the loss in relief for the Sea Kings (0-1) in a Newport Elks Tournament game on Saturday.

CdM has a road game at Cerritos Gahr on Monday at 3:15 p.m.

Newport Harbor 12, Mater Dei 11 (3OT): Hunter Rouch’s goal completed a comeback for the Sailors, who rallied from a 10-6 deficit to win Friday’s nonleague home game.

Rhett Farmer had three goals to lead the Sailors (2-1), and Garrett Rovazzini had seven saves.

Corona del Mar 12, Servite 7: The Sea Kings improved to 2-0 with Saturday’s win at Servite.

Eric Fries led CdM with four goals. Nick Severson and Chandler Fincher each scored two goals.

CdM plays host to Newport Harbor in the Battle of the Bay on Wednesday at 3 p.m.

SOFTBALL

Mater Dei 3, Marina 2: Emily Rush allowed three unearned runs on six hits in seven innings in Marina’s first game of the Best of the West Tournament.

First baseman Shayla Thomas had three hits, including a solo home run. Rush also homered for the Vikings (4-1).

Marina 4, Grand Terrace 2: Shortstop Nicole Logrecco had two hits and drove in a run.

Thomas also had a hit and an RBI.

Whittier Christian 12, Costa Mesa 8: Shortstop Hailie Salyer went two-for-two with four RBIs to lead the Mustangs in a Savanna Showcase game on Saturday.

First baseman Brandy Rodriguez had two hits and two RBIs. Catcher Haley Sheffner also had two hits.
