High School Roundup: Pacifica Christian Orange County boys’ basketball advances to CIF final

Junior forward Judah Brown had 19 points, 11 rebounds and eight blocked shots as the Pacifica Christian Orange County High boys’ basketball team beat Lancaster Quartz Hill 69-54 on Saturday in a CIF Southern Section Division 4AA semifinal playoff game at home.

Josh Sims added 18 points and seven rebounds for No. 2-seeded Pacifica Christian (23-7), which will play top-seeded San Joaquin League rival Fairmont Prep for the title on Feb. 23 at a site to be determined.

Houston Mallette had 15 points and Solomon Davis chipped in 10 points and 13 rebounds, helping Pacifica Christian advance to its second CIF title game in three years. The Tritons were Division 6 finalists in 2016-17.

BASEBALL

Corona del Mar 4, La Habra 2: Kieran Sidebotham had a two-run hit as the Sea Kings earned the Newport Elks Tournament win Saturday at home.

Ryan Zimmerman also drove in a run for CdM (2-0), and Matt DeCrona was one for two with three stolen bases.

Luke Joyce got the win in relief for CdM, which finishes pool play with two games Monday.

Newport Harbor 15, Sunny Hills 1: Cameron Mahaffy earned the win for the Sailors Saturday, allowing one run in three innings in the Newport Elks Tournament game.

Kyle Binford was four for five with two doubles and five runs batted in for Newport Harbor (1-0). Braham Duncan was two for four with a double and three RBIs.

The Sailors host Esperanza on Monday at 3 p.m.

Laguna Beach 10, Whittier 4: Cutter Clawson had three hits and three runs batted in for the Breakers in Saturday’s Newport Elks Tournament road game.

Kolton Freeman had two hits and also drove in three for Laguna Beach (3-1).

Fountain Valley 4, Mission Viejo 3: Cole Wentz was two for four with two runs batted in for the Barons in Saturday’s nonleague game at home.

Ryan Sullivan had two hits and two runs scored for Fountain Valley (2-0).

La Mirada 9, Marina 2: Austin Hallman had a pair of hits for the Vikings in Saturday’s Loara Tournament game at home.

BOYS’ VOLLEYBALL

Newport Harbor def. Los Alamitos: The Sailors swept the Griffins 25-22, 25-21 in the quarterfinals of the Tesoro tournament Saturday.

Newport Harbor also swept Yorba Linda (25-17, 25-16), San Marino (25-11, 25-14) and Beckman (25-18, 25-21) in pool-play action.
