Newport Harbor girls’ tennis beats Marina in league opener
Nicole Knickerbocker lost just one game in her singles sweep as the Newport Harbor High girls’ tennis team won at Marina, 14-4, on Thursday in the Sunset League opener for both teams.
The doubles teams of Rachel Davis and Avery Wooden, as well as Sterling Solomon and Riley DeCinces, both swept in doubles for Newport Harbor (7-2, 1-0 in league). Kat Smith and Carolyn Altshuler also won a doubles set.
The Sailors have a key Sunset League match Tuesday at home against defending league champion Los Alamitos.
