Pirates earn first victory of the season in women’s soccer

Two first-half goals paved the way for the Orange Coast College women’s soccer team to earn its first victory of the season, with the Pirates (1-1-1) edging host Moorpark College 2-1 on Thursday at Ventura College.

The match was part of the Nike Showcase, which runs through Saturday at Ventura College.

Valerie Romero scored the lone goal for Moorpark (1-2-0) in the 71st minute.

OCC next faces Clovis Community College at 3 p.m. Friday in the Nike Showcase.
